NAG 2020 Winter Party

As with the spring 2020 NAG party, we held the winter 2020 NAG party virtually. Food was Doordashed to attendees, and we played some Wheel of Fortune, Jackbox Games (Tee K.O., below!), and Among Us. Hope that all of our Nebraska Acoustics Group friends around the world enjoyed the winter holidays; best wishes to all for a great new year 2021!

UNASA Fall 2020 Activities

The University of Nebraska ASA (UNASA) Student Chapter was pleased to sponsored two activities in fall 2020. The first was a presentation on October 16 by Tony Baxter and alum Ryan Skoug of ESI Engineering on assorted structural vibration projects that their company had worked on. The meeting was held jointly with the University of Nebraska ASCE Student Chapter. Then on November 30, the chapter hosted Dawn Schuette and Shane Kanter from Threshold Acoustics and Prof. Seth Shafer (Assistant Professor of Music Technology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha), as they led a virtual tour of Strauss Performing Arts Center and its recent renovation. Many thanks to the UNASA leadership team for organizing these events in a safe and engaging manner!

NAG at ASA Acoustics Virtually Everywhere

Members of the Nebraska Acoustics Group (NAG) were excited to participate in the ASA Acoustics Virtually Everywhere (AVE) conference! Will Spallino, Drake Hintz, and Dr. Lily Wang presented papers/posters on their research. Dr. Lily Wang also presented a workshop on ‘Effective Negotiation and Difficult Conversations Skills and Strategies’ , December 9 from 11:15 AM – 12:45 PM Eastern; a recording of the workshop is now available at this link. That evening, the ASA AVE Social event from 6:30 – 8 PM Eastern featured a musical performance by the Aviara Trio followed by a session of fun virtual games emceed by Dr. Lily Wang! Last but not least: we were disappointed not to hold a NAG Board Game Night at AVE; instead, we arranged a special virtual performance on Tuesday December 8 from 7-8 PM Central, featuring mentalist Jason Suran: Reconnected. It was great to connect with many NAG members, alums, and friends, as shown in the photo!
